Who is eligible to attend Georgia Digital School (GDS)?

Any student in grades 6–12 who resides in Georgia. While attending GDS, students must maintain a full-time Georgia residency.

How many of my children can I enroll?

Because GDS provides the lesson plans and materials needed for grades 6–12, many parents find it easy to enroll multiple children in the program.

What does it cost to attend GDS?

GDS is a public school program, so there is no tuition. We provide Georgia-certified teachers and instructional materials. Qualified families may receive a loaner computer. These computers are instructional property and must be returned when the student leaves GDS. Families are responsible for providing some common household materials (such as printer ink and paper). Our enrollment consultants can help address your technological and computer questions and needs.

What is the attendance policy?

As Georgia public school students, all GDS students must comply with the state-required minimum number of 180 instructional days.

Is Georgia Digital School accredited? Is the curriculum aligned with state educational standards?

Yes, Georgia Digital School is fully accredited and uses the K12 curriculum, which meets state education standards. GDS ensures your child receives a high-quality education recognized across Georgia, preparing them for future academic success or to confidently move on to college or their chosen career.

Can our family take a vacation during the school year?

The school calendar includes school holidays or vacation time. Whenever possible, family vacations should align with school vacation days. Parents are encouraged to contact their student’s teacher if they plan a vacation that does not coordinate with the school calendar. Extended family travel, except during normal school vacation periods, requires written notification and vacation contract approval by the head of school or designee. This should be completed at least one week before the extended absence.

Do GDS students need to withdraw from their resident district or charter school?

No, GDS students should not withdraw from their local district school. They should first apply to GDS for enrollment. If a student is approved for enrollment, GDS will notify the state that the student is enrolled in GDS and is no longer enrolled in a school within the student’s local school district.
